Summer Games Coming to Charleston
04/22/2009

It's almost that time of year again when 800 Special Olympics athletes and hundreds more families, friends and fans from throughout West Virginia will gather in Charleston for the 2009 Summer Games.  This year's games will be held June 5-7 and will include athletes competing in seven sports (Track & Field, Swimming, Bocce, Golf, Tennis, Cycling, and Softball) over the course of three days.  The athletes are already training in preparation to do their best with their competitions, and everyone is welcome to share in the experience and to cheer on these great athletes at their biggest event of the year.  All Summer Games events are open to the pubic and free to spectators.

To ensure that the athletes have a successful experience at Summer Games, we need 600-700 volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer to help with Summer Games in any capacity, please fill ut the Volunteer Application Form and Summer Games Schedule through the link below or by alling the Special Olympics West Virginia office at 1-800-926-1616.
