Summer Sports Camp is designed to introduce Special Olympics West Virginia athletes to leisure sports with the hope that they can return to their respective communities and be positioned to participate in such sports with their families and friends.  In addition to devoting time to fishing, putt putt golf, horseshoes, croquet, cornhole, paddle boating, frisbee golf, swimming pool games and the challenging obstacle course, the athletes have opportunities to be creative with arts and crafts, enjoy a movie or dance, and listen to campfire stories while making smores.  For many athletes, Summer Sports Camp provides a chance to take part in new sports and activities and to establish new friendships – although the tug-of-war contest traditionally brings out the competitive spirit of all the athletes.
