Harrison Football 1Harrison Miller, from Clarksburg, WV, has been named 2017-2018 Special Olympics Male Athlete of the Year by The Big 12 Conference. 

Every year, The Big 12 will choose a male and female to award and honor who participate in statewide Special Olympics programs. This year, Harrison Miller, a participant of Special Olympics West Virginia, was one of the recipients chosen for the award. Harrison, along with his family, have been invited to The Big 12 Championship Football Game on December 2nd for an on-field presentation. 

Harrison has been participating in basketball, bowling, football and softball for the Special Olympics West Virginia program for nine years. In 2014, Harrison went on to compete in Special Olympics National Games, and represented Special Olympics West Virginia, bringing home the gold medal in bowling. Harrison has also won three State Championships in football, two in softball and two in basketball. He is also captain of his football and basketball teams. 

Harrison recently received The Harrison County Most Valuable Player of the 2017 State Basketball Championship, was named Athlete of the Year by the Special Olympics Harrison County Program, and the 2012 Harrison County Most Valuable Player of the Special Olympics West Virginia Summer Games Softball Tournament after hitting the game-winning home run. Harrison was also the first athlete to record a safety in Special Olympics West Virginia football history. 

In his spare time, Harrison enjoys assisting other athletes with intellectual disabilities with improving their sports skills.
