“This event is open to anyone who is looking for a creative way to spend one of the last weekends of summer,” said Allyson Carr, Director of Special Events. “I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday evening than having fun while helping an important organization.”

There will be a chance to win prizes through the cornhole tournament and the purchase of raffle tickets. The winner of the tournament will receive two tickets to the season opening West Virginia University football game, a basketball signed by former WVU Men’s Basketball players, and a day pass to Ace Adventures Resort. The raffle prize includes a custom designed WVU cornhole set with bags included. Three raffle tickets come with the ticket, but more are available to buy at the event.

Tickets can be bought online for $60 at www.sowv.org. Individuals can also purchase tickets at the door with cash, check or card. The money raised during the event will go directly to Special Olympics West Virginia.

“Hosting a fundraiser in the Fairmont area is important to us,” Carr said. “We serve thousands of athletes from all over West Virginia and several come from Marion, Harrison and Monongalia Counties.”

SOWV serves more than 4,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities throughout the state by providing year-round athletic training and competition. The organization annually conducts 5 state level competitions in 18-Olympic style sports.
